Nutrition Support Kit Distribution for TB Patients – Patan

Description

A significant initiative was undertaken in Patan district to strengthen the TB-Free India campaign. Under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Limited (UGVCL), Mehsana, in collaboration with Shri Brahm Samaj Seva Trust, Patan, distributed free nutritional support kits to 700 TB patients in the district. The program was chaired by District Development Officer C. L. Patel, who also distributed the kits. He stated that in 2024, out of nearly 4,000 registered TB patients in Patan district, about 90% have recovered through regular treatment and nutritional support. So far, 123 Gram Panchayats in the district have been declared TB-free, and a commitment has been made to make all 486 Gram Panchayats TB-free in the future. UGVCL Director Maheshkumar Kapadiya, Secretary N. M. Joshi, Chief Engineer J. R. Chaudhary, and Brahm Samaj Seva Trust President Naresh Dave were also present at the event.The event focused on promoting social harmony, unity, brotherhood, and cooperation among different sections of society. Eminent speakers emphasized the need to remove discrimination based on caste, religion, language, gender, and economic background. Discussions were held on social equality, mutual respect, coexistence, and strengthening social values among the younger generation. A large number of villagers, youth, women, and community representatives actively participated in the program, making it a meaningful and impactful initiative toward building an inclusive and progressive society.

The Objectives of the Scheme are:

  • i) To support TB patients with essential nutrition during their treatment period.
  • ii) To improve the overall health and immunity of TB patients through balanced dietary supplements.
  • iii) To strengthen the TB Free India Campaign by encouraging treatment compliance and recovery.
  • iv) To provide assistance to economically weaker patients who cannot afford proper nutrition.
  • v) To increase awareness about tuberculosis prevention, treatment, and recovery.
  • vi) To encourage community participation in eliminating TB from rural and urban areas.
  • vii) To support government health initiatives aimed at making districts and villages TB-free.

Prospective Vocational Programs:

  • i) Skill development training for recovered TB patients to help them become financially independent.
  • ii) Awareness and health education workshops related to hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
  • iii) Community health volunteer training programs to assist TB awareness campaigns.
  • iv) Small-scale livelihood training such as tailoring, handicrafts, or home-based enterprises.
  • v) Nutrition and food preparation training for families of TB patients to maintain healthy diets.
  • vi) Social support and counseling programs to help patients reintegrate into society.
  • vii) Capacity-building programs for local health workers and volunteers involved in TB elimination initiatives.
